Lonesummer "What We Were"

Lonesummer is another example of crazy pop-infected experimental black metal. Their demo CD, What We Were, is now available from Starlight Temple Society. Demo comes packaged in glossy 7" gatefold jacket. Limited to 100 copies ( and only $2 plus shipping! ).

Excellent find, thank you!

I guess we have Lifelover, Amesoeurs and Alcest to thank for this awful, up and coming "black metal" trend.

Nah, that's not really accurate, as Katatonia was taking it in this direction over a decade ago...but to each his own of course. I understand people not liking everything.

Where as Dissection and Katatonia brought (more) melody to the genre, they still kept things heavy and violent. These days it seems like every emo kid is doing BM bands and the above is the result. Those vocals are laughable and meaningless and I question if Lonesummer is trying to pull a Velvet Cacoon.

I can respect your opinion, but it's only a CD limited to 100 copies, and the dude above us liked it, so that's ok. Not trying to change the world or anything. Limited to 100 because of very limited appeal I suppose. Thats what this blog is for.

No way! I'm not trying to attack your blog at all. I love it in fact, although my wallet is a different story! I was just more or less commenting on the music. I was interested in it to be honest but it was just awful. The packaging and limited pressing though is cool. I like things like that. This just didn't cut it for me. But keep up the great work. I always check the RSS for new updates!

This band has tons of potential if they continue to expand this weird mix of black metal and shoegaze.

Looking forward to the next one.

Thanx so much for your support. I truly appreciate that.

Also, what is this connection between Starlight Temple Society and the Order of Nine Angles? There was lots of zany shit posted on wiki, and the fact (?) that the guy doing the label is actually Josh himself??

These have been ongoing rumors for the past few years now.
