Negură Bunget, "Maiestrit" and "Virstele Pamintului"

Some people are getting confused about what's what with this band, which is essentially two different bands... so I hope this goes towards clarifying for some people.

Ok, what you see above is a new album... sort of. It's called "Maiestrit" and it is the last recording of the classic Negură Bunget lineup, with Hupogrammos and Sol Faur. It's a reinterpretation of the classic NB album "Măiastru Sfetnic." Don't know that it will ever be pressed on vinyl, but the CD is available here, if you're willing to pay what it takes to ship it from Europe. Don't know of any US distributors yet.

It marks the end of an era for this great black metal band (again, sort of, as you'll see). Keep your eyes open for a forthcoming recording from Hupogrammos's and Sol Faur's new band, Dordeduh (whose mySpace page you can check out here.

This album cover is that of the band that is now called Negură Bunget, even though it only features one member of the classic NB lineup, that being Negru, the drummer. Dude probably should have called it something else, and word says that he had agreed with this former bandmates to do just that, but apparently he decided against that. It would have been the right thing to do, but I'm sure he has his reasons.

In any case, the album pictured above is called "Virstele Pamintului." It's available here, but again, if you're in the US, you'll have to pay the disastrous shipping costs from Europe. There are a couple of editions of this, including the digipack CD, available now, or you can really go wild and order the Earth Box (preorders just opened, like just a couple hours ago, and the first 20 preorders get a free NB t-shirt), which includes the digipack CD, a poster, sticker, pin, and some real Transilvanian earth, all in a handmade and roped woodbox with burn-in finishing. Shipping that beast from Europe will cost a pretty penny, but if you're really into this sort of thing, it may be worth it to you.
