Abigor, "Opus IV" 2x10"

Abigor's essential 1996 album Opus IV is soon to be re-released, this time on vinyl. There's not much information on this except that it will be remastered for a 2x10" release, limited to 666 copies, and packaged in a gatefold.  No release date is given, but it is supposed to come this fall on Nihilward Productions.

New Goings-on at Flingco Sound System

Lots of new stuff happening over at the always-outstanding and unique Flingco Sound System site, starting with the great-looking t-shirt in the above pic.  It's very limited, so if you want one, you should jump on that shit now.

Also new is this 7" (plus digital album) from Richmond, Virginia's Cristal.  The 7" includes the tracks "Swedish Child" and "Trial," and if you buy it, you'll also get a free download code for the full-length digital album Homegoing.  They're also available separately.  Immense, heavy and textured stuff here. You've heard nothing like it, that much I can guarantee.

New stuff coming soon from Wrnlrd as well. The album, which will be released as a 10" (and digital EP) is titled Death Drive, and the FSS website says Fall 2010.  Soon indeed...

Dark Castle, "Spirited Migration" LP

One of last year's best doom albums, finally getting the vinyl treatment.  Limited 180 Gram vinyl, comes in either ruby red or opaque forest green.  Starts shipping in about a week from At A Loss Recordings.

Unearthly Trance/Wooden Wand split 7"

I saw Unearthly Trance over the weekend, and they were awesome, not surprisingly.  You should definitely get out to see them on tour with Suma, if you can.

I just got this email that Chrome Peeler is putting out a split 7" with UT and Wooden Wand covering songs by good ole' Uncle Charlie. UT play "People Say I'm no Good," while Wooden Wand gives their spin on "Get On Home."  Out in early November, limited to 200 copies. Seriously, how could this be anything but awesome?  Pre-orders being accepted now, so get a move on.

Gallowbraid, "Ashen Eidolon"

I first heard this band on this year's Der Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer CD, which I posted on here

I've just recently discovered that their debut release, Ashen Eidolon, has been issued by Northern Silence Productions. It's beautiful, dark, and melancholy, but don't take my word for it - you really need to hear it in order to fully appreciate what's going on here. This gets high praise from HSS, and is HIGHLY recommended.

Check out the band's myspace to hear some of their music, and then go here to get it.

Pallbearer, "2010 Demo CDr"

Must-hear epic doom metal from Arkansas. Hints of the great band Warning... You can check them out here, which includes a free download of the demo.  You can also buy a t-shirt of CDr version of this demo here. The demo is only $6 - can you afford NOT to have one?

Beau will be working with these guys soon, releasing a cassette version.  Awesome.
