Lesbian, "Stratospheria Cubensis"

I never understood the "progressive doom" tag that Seattle, Washington's Lesbian acquired over the years, but now it's pretty clear.  Their new record, which you can stream here, is a long, epic journey of keyboard laden doom with all kinds of weird time changes.  But let me tell you - it's fucking heavy as hell. A great record that you should definitely pick up - from Important Records.

New Doses from Small Doses

Small Doses is back with a new batch of records. Included in this batch is a CD featuring a collaboration between Nicholas Szczepanik and Jenks Miller of Horseback, 3" CD-Rs from Alo Girl and André Foisy (one-third of HSS favorites, Locrian), CD-Rs from Will Gresson and Husere Grav, and the first cassette release from Nordvargr.

Utech Records: November

In addition to the previous post for the new Locrian's The Crystal World, there are more new releases on the way from Utech Records.

Tetragrammaton's Point of Convergence marks the fifth release in Utech's Shokyo Ontei series. GOG return with Heavy Fierce Brightness: Spells of the Sun, their second release with the label. Daniel Menche also returns with his second Utech release, Terre Paroxysm. Mamiffer and House of Low Culture, the projects of Faith Coloccia and Aaron Turner, are releasing the CD version of their split record through Utech and the vinyl version via Sige Records. And finally, the last 50 copies of Architeuthus Rex's Dark as the Sea are being sold with alternate artwork.

These new releases feature fantastic artwork from the likes of Justin Bartlett, Terence Hannum, Christopher Colville, Are Mokkelbost and Kengo Matsuda.

Locrian, "The Crystal World"

Following on the heels of Territories, the collaborative record which came out back in the Spring, Locrian have returned with what many may come to regard as their magnum opus - The Crystal World, out on Utech Records on November 23rd. I've been anticipating this record since I first heard about it, and it's one of those albums that you just know will not disappoint. Even if you've been a fan of their previous works, you'll still be overwhelmed by this. And while none of their albums have been easy to categorize, this one takes it a few steps further, wandering into territories previously unknown - especially on the second disc, an hour long journey of epic proportions.
