Panopticon, On the Subject of Mortality 2xLP

If you've been reading this site for a while, you know this was my favorite album of last year. It's everything one could ask for in a metal record, but it is SO much more than a metal record. This was a deeply personal album to me before my mom died, and then when she did, this music provided the soundtrack to get me through what was some of the most intense suffering I've ever experienced. I don't ask you to get from this album what I did and continue to, I just ask you to sit with it and experience the range of emotions present, to look the music in the eye, and to honestly come to terms with the fact that this is a masterpiece. One of the most important records I've heard in my life...

Now it's being pressed to wax, and since Jonathan at The Flenser is doing it, we can rest assured it is being done right. What was once the music that comprised the Panopticon splits with Skagos and When Bitter Spring Sleeps is now whole, being put out as it was intended. Deluxe double vinyl, mastered at 45 RPM, with an insert and patch. 100 clear vinyl, 150 black vinyl. And that's it. Just 250 copies. You can and should preorder this now from Flenser Records. Expects to ship in less than 6 weeks.

While you're there, pick up the Seidr album before the price goes up. One of this year's best doom albums for sure.
