Locrian, Dort Ist Der Weg b/w Frozen In Ash 7"

Coming soon from Flingco Sound System...

A new 7" from Chicago's Locrian. Some way, somehow, they've continued to up the ante. Last year's incredible The Crystal World seemed to be their crowning achievement, but they've gotten even better since then. This, their first 7" for FSS, was recorded in April, and contributes two songs to their ever-expanding sonic repertoire.

The first is a slowed-down, strikingly heavy and dynamic cover of Popol Vuh's dreamy "Dor Ist Der Weg." To me, this is Locrian at their finest. They've taken a song that would not seem to lend itself to interpretation by a by a drone/noise/metal band and turned it into something ritualistic, fierce, vivid and distinctly their own. Quite stunning. The b-side, "Frozen in Ash," is 6+ minutes of psychotic drone awash in nearly bass-less guitar sound, keyboards and agonized screams. Building the tension to the very end, with no release in sight...

Again, this will be available from our friends at Flingco Sound System on September 11, as a limited edition 7" (500 will be pressed) as well as a digital single.
