Mutilation Rites, Devoid 12" and Windhand s/t LP

Wow, Mutilation Rites have another 12" coming out, and once again, it's intense heavy and absolutely fierce. The brutal assault is dialed back just a bit on this one in favor of a somewhat more melodic approach, and it works really, really well. It's nice to see a band that is so adept at bringing it fast and furious have the ability to slow down a little bit and insert a little more melody into their songs. In the case of Mutilation Rites, it seems not to matter what they're doing, because it's all gold. I can't stop listening to these guys, and once you listen, I think you'll find yourself in the same situation. This latest 12" is called Devoid, and it is available for pre-order now.

Also up for order now is the mammoth, psyched-out, stoner-doom debut from Richmond, VA's Windhand. They're not exactly my style, but they've made a really good record, fusing hard rock, classic doom riffs, blues, and psych. An enjoyable, if not original, listen. The LP comes on black wax in a gatefold cover.

Both of these are available for pre-order from Forcefield Records, and should be available right around March 23rd.
